Layne Davis

Layne broke into computers in 1979 at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Studying Automatic Digital Message Switching Repair, his interest in computers was piqued. After joining the Army, Layne got received further instruction in computing and education. After that he graduated from MATC with a degree in Computer Information Systems. Continuing his education, he attended Upper Iowa University for his bachelor’s in Computer Science and received his master’s from Concordia University in Computer Science Education.

Layne came to MATC in the Mid-1990s. Co-founding the Cisco Academy in 1998, he began teaching Cisco at MATC. In 1999, Layne received his CCNA. Continuing on with his passion with Cisco, he received his CCNP in 2003. His other certifications include CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, VMware Certified Profession 4 (VCP4-DCV) and 5 (VCP5-DCV), and EMC ISM.

When Layne is not teaching, his passion is running. Layne has run marathons in all 50 states and on all seven continents; some of the countries include: China, Scotland, Norway, Peru, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Layne has completed more than 100 full marathons in just over 20 years.
